Call for Proposals

5th – 7th March 2020 in Theater Frascati

Nicole Beutler Projects, Keren Levi | NeverLike, BAU and Frascati are pleased to invite you to take part in the fifth edition of COME TOGETHER: a public gathering offering a stage to artists from the dance, performance and mime field in Amsterdam. This three-day event creates time and space for experimentation, for the unknown to happen, for new proposals of art making and for different approaches to encounter a public.

Makers from dance, performance, mime and all related arts disciplines are welcome to submit their proposals by the 8th of December 2019.

COME TOGETHER is a get together not a festival
Over the last years COME TOGETHER has developed into a platform that is not only creating visibility for artists working in the field - revealing a lively and diverse landscape - but also is a gathering of the scene and shared space for practice and experiment. We, the organizers of COME TOGETHER, are a group of Amsterdam based artists that feel responsible for a lively ecosystem in the city and we cherish the creation of a non-competitive space, a space of potential and encounter.

COME TOGETHER # 5 once more takes place on three consecutive days in Theater Frascati and offers space and time to test and share your ideas.

Theater Frascati is generously hosting COME TOGETHER in all of its spaces. The theater offers us technical and productional support. All corners and spaces of Frascati can be utilized. In past editions artists also infiltrated places such as the cellar, dressing rooms, staircases and corridors.

We invite you to propose a short performance or a project that you could or would not normally present in standard presentation circumstances: something unfinished, unpolished, unplugged. We encourage projects that facilitate the discourse on dance, performance and mime, or offer different perspectives on artmaking.

We are open to all forms of presentation: performances, lectures, actions, manifestos, conversations, films, workshops, installations, discursive formats or any other mode that emerges from your practice. COME TOGETHER #5 is not a festival that focusses on full-length existing performances. In order to stimulate meaningful encounters, artists are requested to attend all three days of the event, also when not performing themselves.

For the 5th edition, the initiators Nicole Beutler, Keren Levi and Eva Villanueva, are inviting João Dinis Pinho, Floor van Leeuwen, Fernando Belfiore, Elke Decoker, Ira Brand and Isadora Tomasi to take part in the curation of the event. This team will read through all the proposals and select between 35-40 artists.

In previous gatherings we have hosted up to 50 artists. In this edition we can host a maximum of 40 proposals. This is in order to create more time in the schedule for encounters and exchange.

Important criteria for the selection are:
- The proposal is realizable within the limited technical possibilities of this gathering
- The artist has a working practice in dance, performance, mime or related arts disciplines
- The artist has graduated from an (arts) academy or has professional work experience
- The artist is related to Amsterdam, has studied here, lives here, works here or has a strong bond with the city.

We look forward to receiving a wide range of ideas and will do our outmost to fulfill different artistic wishes. The selection will be made with the intention to reflect a broad and vivid spectrum of the scene in Amsterdam so the combination of the proposals reflects a diversity of age, background, gender, discipline, content and form.

There are some conditions to be considered:
SPACE: Your project takes place at Frascati 1, 2, 3 or in any another space in/ around Frascati
DURATION: Please take into account that we are hosting 11-14 artists per night. Shorter performances (1 min to 30 min) are appreciated. Exceptions are possible, but cannot be guaranteed. We are aiming to create a program that gives the audience the opportunity to experience everything. That means that you might perform twice, or three times an evening.
TECHNICAL PRODUCTION: Please be aware that we can only host proposals with minimal technical needs. There is a technical team available for some support. All technique will have to be shared with others. We will coordinate, accommodate and provide as much as possible.
BUDGET: We offer rehearsal time and shared meals during the festival. This is a gathering created with minimal means. We provide a small budget to each project of € 250 to relieve production costs.
REHEARSAL TIME: Over the years we have created a network of institutions that support COME TOGETHER by offering studio space for the participants. We cannot guarantee upfront how many hours or days. We strive towards offering you all a few days of studio time in anticipation to the festival (max 5 days).
This depends on the availability of the studio's and the number of participants wanting to make use of them. Studio’s are available between 27th of January and the 4th of March.

Please fill in the registration form and send it together with a short project description (max 500 words) and biography (max 150 words) before the 1st of December to
You can be creative in how you want to share your proposal with us. For example, if you feel more comfortable in speech instead of written language you are welcome to share your project description with us in a short video (max 3 minutes).

Although we wish to include all proposals, we cannot give any guarantees. We will let you know if we can include your project by the 10th of January 2020. We look forward to reading your ideas. If you have any questions, please contact project coordinator Justa ter Haar at or 06-48263327.

Warm regards,
Nicole Beutler, Keren Levi, Eva Villanueva
